More Re-Mix Artists: RUDIMENTAL

In doing research for this column I accidentally stumbled upon the genre of remixed tunes. I've written about them before and many of my favorites are still getting hundreds of millions of hits on YouTube, and growing.

Last time, I accidentally stumbled on the British pop artist, John Newman, with his lively rhythm and unusual voice. If it were on an LP I'm sure I would have worn out the track for "Love Me Again." Hugely successful in Europe, I was surprised to hear this on my local FM radio station which normally only plays hits from the 70s and 80s. The DJ said he received many requests for the song. So I am not alone.

I was curious what other songs Newman did and found that his early career was boosted by the vocals he did for a group called Rudimental, who normally only sample tracks from other artists and add their special sound in a remixed form. This time they got Newman to do the vocals for one of their own original tunes called "Feel The Love" and it skyrocketed to the Top 5 in Britain, New Zealand and Australia back in 2012.

Rudimental are an English electronic music quartet who produce mainly drum and bass. They are signed to Asylum Records and independent label, Black Butter. The quartet consists of songwriters and producers Piers Agget, Kesi Dryden, Amir Amor (Amir Izadkhah) and DJ Locksmith (Leon Rolle).

After their rise to prominence in the UK with Newman's vocals, Rudimental released further singles since, including "Not Giving In" (featuring Newman and Alex Clare) and the 2013 single "Waiting All Night" (featuring Ella Eyre) which also topped the chart in the UK.

So, without further delay, here is Rudimental!

Hal Blaine played the drums on so many songs we love...

Check out how many young and talented artists relied upon Hal Blaine and his "Wrecking Crew" to make their tunes top the charts. ALSO: We remember Frankie Smith and his 80s one-hit-wonder that still grooves today.

VAZQUEZ SOUNDS Rocks YouTube!

Unless you're a teenager you probably have never heard of a band called Vazquez Sounds. They posted their first YouTube video back in 2011 and since then it has been viewed -- are you ready? -- 110,000,000 times.

The Sound You Need: Deep House Electro is getting very popular. DJ's and remixing have come of age! Check out some sample tunes.
